Invest Atlanta Gives Back Through United Way During Holidays

Monday, December 12, 2016

Staff from Invest Atlanta and the Mayor’s Office of International Affairs came together to support needy families through the United Way.

On Friday, December 2, the group gathered together to pack hundreds of snack bags destined for children at City of Refuge. Serving Atlanta’s Westside neighborhoods since 1997, City of Refuge provides housing, health care, educational programs, vocational training, and more to families in need.

The goal was to beat the number set during last year’s Bag-a-Thon, and the staff came through by donating snacks and assembling 435 bags. Nick Mulkey and Justin Giboney helped load up the snack bags for Michele Lewis, who delivered them to City of Refuge that afternoon.

Staff also pledged $9,191 to support various charities through the 2017 United Way Campaign. Dorothy Williams, Invest Atlanta’s Director of Human Resources, deserves special thanks for taking the lead on both the Bag-a-Thon and the fundraising effort.

Many others were part of these efforts, including: Daphne Crosby, Shelease Tucker, Vanessa Angulo, Keisha Trujillo, Leanda Robles-Collins, Sheoyki Jones, Vickey Roberts, Anita Allgood, Rita Coppock, Stephen McRae, LaTonya Hopper, Dale Royal, Payson Schwin, Cynthia Freeman, and Sam Adams. Taylor Woodruff and Vanessa Ibarra from the Mayor’s Office of International Affairs also joined in.
