Invest Atlanta Helps Westside Small Businesses Grow

Monday, January 30, 2017

The small business development team at Invest Atlanta recently closed on two loans for businesses located in Atlanta’s Westside.

Hagger International, Inc. received a $50,000 loan to update and renovate Hagger Station, their convenience store serving the Vine City and English Avenue communities. They plan to purchase new equipment for food and beverage service, as well as update existing furniture fixtures.

Pamela Baker, an H&R Block tax return preparer and proprietor of Baker Taxx Services, is currently leasing a space on Martin Luther King Drive in southwest Atlanta. She plans to use the $50,000 loan she just closed with Invest Atlanta, along with additional bank financing, to purchase a building of her own along the MLK corridor.

Both of these entrepreneurs were assisted through the Business Improvement Loan Fund, one of seven available loan funds Invest Atlanta’s Small Business team taps to provide gap financing to business owners throughout Atlanta. (Learn more about the loan programs here.)

During his time at Invest Atlanta, Invest Atlanta’s Director of Small Business Development Lonnie Saboor has worked on over 600 projects.

“We’re here to fill the gap for good projects in the City of Atlanta that we think are deserving of financing,” said Saboor. “We’re here to make dreams come true.”
