Invest Atlanta Joins College and Career Week at Hollis

President and CEO Dr. Eloisa Klementich, Assistant General Counsel Justin Giboney, Mortgage Loan Specialist Michele Lewis, and Vice President of Compliance Christie Barnes recently took part in Michael R. Hollis Innovation Academy’s College and Career Week. The team spent a day in February with the students, and it was part of a full week of career-related activities meant to expose a broader scope of future educational and professional possibilities open to the Hollis students.

Hollis is a PreK-8 STEM neighborhood school on the Westside led by Dr. Diamond Jack. Their College and Career Week is just one way in which Hollis is taking hands-on approach to learning, allowing kids to connect the instruction they’re getting in the classroom to the real world. Guest speakers from Invest Atlanta, as well as a Delta Air Lines pilot, came to speak with the students.

Everyone from Invest Atlanta had a wonderful time and came away impressed by the sharp questions the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students asked. Dr. Klementich informed students about all of the exciting developments going on in the city, while Giboney spoke about the importance of doing great work each and every day. Barnes talked about her experience going to law school and how her education opened up a world of opportunities for her. And as a fun way to show how Invest Atlanta can help families buy a home, Lewis worked with the kids to decorate a play house.

In December, Dr. Klementich and Invest Atlanta, along with Portman Holdings, worked with Dr. Jack to raise $10,000 to provide all of Hollis’ students with two school uniforms each.
