Invest Atlanta Gives Back During the Holidays

Monday, December 11, 2017

Team IA once again came together to help others during the holiday season.

Throughout the month of November, staff provided aid and support for the ongoing Hurricane Maria relief efforts in Puerto Rico. The group “Atlanta Levanta a Puerto Rico” organized the effort. Canned goods, diapers, and batteries were among the much-needed items gathered at the Invest Atlanta office before being distributed.

Also in November, Invest Atlanta participated in Central Atlanta Progress hosted Sneaker Week to promote sustainability and health in Atlanta. Collection bins for used sneakers were placed in major office buildings throughout Downtown Atlanta. Team IA came through in a big way, with our office finishing third among City of Atlanta government buildings. These sneakers will be donated to those in need or recycled depending on wear and tear.

Finally, more than a dozen staff members volunteered their time in December to assemble snack bags for the annual United Way Bag-A-Thon. The team put together 525 bags this year, which went to children attending the after-school programs at City of Refuge and the Nicholson House.

Those who joined in included Shelease, Daphne, Devon, Michele, Rita, Stephen, Dale, Payson, Flor, June, Robert, Heide, Kiera, Elaine, Christie, Kent, Malaika, Anita, and Jennifer. Other IA staff members contributed or purchased snacks as part of the effort.

We are IA!
