Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s CEO, famously commented that “We see our customers as invited guests to a party, and we are the hosts. It’s our job every day to make every important aspect of the customer experience a little bit better.” Economic and community development are like customer experience in many ways. A fundamental aspect of our mission is to ensure that the companies, communities and individuals we serve always have a great experience with the city and in our communities. And Atlanta is succeeding at this.
Thumbtack, the online marketplace for connecting local professionals, recently gave Atlanta an “A” for business friendliness in its annual survey measuring ease of doing business. In another national listing, NerdWallet ranked Atlanta the top mobile-friendly city in the U.S. based on number of mobile connections, in-person customer service, taxes and fees, and crime risk.
As we look back at the first half of the year, it’s important to remind ourselves that delivering a great customer experience is an important part of attracting and retaining investment. In 2016, we’ve seen increased jobs and investments for the city, new multifamily projects launched and greater homeownership throughout Atlanta neighborhoods – all of which are positioning ourselves to surpass our goals. The outstanding service experience we strive to provide everyday makes a difference, and it will continue to propel our success.
